Dr. Dante Alvarez Appointed as Salida Union School District Superintendent

The Salida Union School District Board of Education is pleased to announce that at their meeting on May 21, 2024, they voted unanimously to appoint Dr. Dante Alvarez as the District’s next Superintendent.

Dr. Alvarez’s appointment follows an extensive search, which brought an excellent field of highly-qualified candidates. The Board's decision is a reflection of input gathered from key stakeholder groups in the District regarding the qualities desired in SUSD’s next leader.
 
Dr. Alvarez is excited to step into the role of Superintendent of the Salida Union School District. He has 24 years of experience in education and brings extensive knowledge and dedication to student success to this position.
 
Dr. Alvarez began his career as a 5th-grade teacher in Modesto City Schools, where he developed a strong foundation in student learning and developing strong positive relationships with the school community. Here, he discovered his passion for teaching and his ability to create engaging learning environments.
 
After several years in the classroom, Dr. Alvarez transitioned to the Manteca Unified School District, where he served as Vice Principal for four years. In this role, he supported teachers, managed school operations, and addressed the diverse needs of students and families.
 
His dedication to education led him to serve as Principal in the Empire Union School District and Ripon Unified School District for a combined total of eight years. For the past seven years, Dr. Alvarez has served as Senior Director at Manteca Unified School District, overseeing six key departments: Human Resources, Payroll, Risk Management, Induction, Transportation, and Nutrition Education. In this role, he ensured that each department operated efficiently to support the district’s mission.
 
In his new role as Superintendent of the Salida Union School District, Dr. Alvarez is ready to use his experience for the benefit of students, staff, and the community. He is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment that promotes academic success and personal growth for all students. Dr. Alvarez looks forward to building strong relationships with all stakeholders and working together to achieve the district’s goals.
 
Dr. Alvarez holds a Doctor of Education Administration from the University of the Pacific, a Master of Arts from California State University, Stanislaus, and a Bachelor of Arts from San Francisco State University. He is also a proud husband to his wife of 17 years and father of four children.
